What’s new in Shopify

Shopify POS now lets store staff run cycle and full stock counts directly in POS, making it easier to count inventory on the sales floor while keeping planning, review, and approval in Shopify Admin.

In Shopify Admin, users with the required permissions can create and schedule a stock count, select the location where the count will take place, and choose the products to include. Once created, the count automatically appears under Products > Stock counts in POS at the selected location.

In Shopify POS, staff with the inventory permission can open the count and record what’s on hand by scanning barcodes or entering quantities manually. When the count is complete, it is submitted for review in Shopify Admin.

Submitting a stock count from POS doesn’t immediately update inventory quantities. Users with the required permissions can review the completed count and any discrepancies before approving it and applying the resulting inventory adjustments. Shopify also keeps a record of what was counted, when the count was completed, and who performed it, providing an audit trail for inventory adjustments

Running stock counts in Shopify POS requires POS Pro and Shopify POS v11.16 or later.
