What’s new in Shopify

You can now set return window overrides by market for specific collections, products, or variants. Overrides let you choose a different return period than your default return window - for example, 14 days for seasonal items instead of your standard 90 days.

How it works
* Overrides replace the default return window: If an item matches an override, that override's return window gets applied instead of your default or market-specific window.
* The shortest override wins: If an item matches more than one override, the shortest matching return window applies.
* Final sale still wins: Items marked as final sale can't be returned (or cancelled), even if they also match a return window override.
* Default rules apply otherwise: If an item isn’t final sale and doesn’t match an override, your market-specific return window applies. If no market-specific rules are set, your default return window applies.

Where to set it
Settings > Policies > Return and cancellation rules > Select specific market rules to modify > You can then select a target collection, product, variant to apply a return window override to.

Example
Set a 14‑day window for your “Holiday 2026” collection while keeping your storewide default at 90 days.
