What’s new in Shopify

Adding or swapping a POS device used to mean typing credentials on the new device - usually right when your store is the busiest. Now you can sign in to a new device by approving it from a nearby device that is already logged in.

It’s as simple as picking up: a signed device nearby detects it over Bluetooth, a staff member with the POS Device Setup user role taps approve and enters their store manager PIN, and the new device is signed into your shop and location. No Bluetooth? Scan a QR code from a logged-in device instead.

By default, new devices are signed in for today only, so devices don't stay logged in after the event. Merchants who want longer sessions can enable Forever in POS channel admin.
