What’s New at Shopify?

We’ve simplified the app model at Shopify by introducing a new experience for creating, configuring, and building custom apps in the Shopify admin.

Custom apps now support all the functionality that private apps do today, and provide better security. Going forward, private apps will be replaced by custom apps; however, existing private apps can still be used and modified.
