What’s new in Shopify

We've updated printed receipts in Shopify POS so you can manage sale, return, exchange, gift, and gift card receipts in one place. Return and exchange receipts now print as a single section with one amount summary at the bottom, instead of two separate sections with two subtotals.

What’s new?
The new content editor in the POS channel applies your branding, header, and footer across every receipt type, lets you override by location only when you need to, and includes built-in fields for return policy, signature line, and regional tax IDs (VAT, GST/QST, ABN).
Gift receipts no longer show line items so you can print multiple at once, and you can choose whether gift card receipts print automatically.
For everyday changes that used to require the Liquid editor, you can now do it directly in the editor with a real-time preview.

Migrating from Liquid customizations
If your shop uses a customized Liquid receipt template, you have until January 1, 2027 to move to the new editor. Preview and configure your new template in the content editor while your existing Liquid template keeps printing. When you're ready, flip the shop-level switch to make the new format live. Note that switching is irreversible. Any shops still on Liquid on January 1, 2027 will be migrated to the new format automatically.
